The opening race of the IRL calendar takes place here, at the sixty five thousand capacity Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. Since its first inclusion in the IRL calendar in 2001, Miami’s 1. 5-mile low banked oval has seen plenty of fast and close racing, proving popular with drivers and fans alike. Racing at Miami is no pushover. It is a track that requires your full attention in order to drive effectively. The structure of the circuit is such that you’re going to spend more time in the turns than you are on the straightaways, so that’s where you’re going to have to do your passing. Unless these manoeuvres are timed carefully you’re going to slip out of the groove and into the wall, so be careful and concentrate on the task at hand. The cars running at Miami are set up with the lower downforce speedway wing configuration. This is the first race of the season, and champions here are made of those who put in steady laps and keep their noses clean, don’t sacrifice your car in order to gain positions.
