Welcome to Pikes Peak International Raceway, a regular fixture of the series’ calendar since the track opened in 1997. Called a tri-oval, Pikes Peak is really more of a D shape, with the front straightaway actually being one big corner. This front straightaway has a bank of seven degrees, leading into 10-degree corners and three-degree banking on the back straightaway. This makes for fast racing on the track, but with a length of one mile, it also means that there is going to be a lot of lapped traffic to deal with. Because of this, the cars run the high-downforce, short-oval wing configuration. Finally, you will also have to contend with the circuit’s unique environment.
