The lower the number the closer you are to becoming a criminal yourself. If you break the rules, that nice shiny badge of yours will get tarnished. So keep it clean 'cause cop or civvie, I'll bust your ass. Let's keep moving. Here are the three rules to keep your badge rating high.  Rule One:  No intimidating, arresting or killing innocent civilians.   Rule Two:  You cannot shoot a criminal unless they are carrying a weapon or intending to harm an officer.  Rule Three:  No consumption of illegal substances. If you find yourself in trouble, try I.D.ing yourself by flashing your badge. To flash your Badge, press \bo.  This will identify you as an officer, granting influence in a surrounding radius, and the game's various inhabitants will react appropriately.  Try it on the Criminal. Easy, chief. I'm one of the good guys. Obviously, it's our job as cops to bust up crimes and turn any recovered contraband in as evidence. That's it for me. I gotta go back to my beat. A tarnished badge rating can be increased by preventing street crime and cleaning the streets of narcotics.  You can do this by arresting criminals and turning in evidence at the police station. If you want to know more about busting punks, go talk to Officer Bill over there. I'm gonna refresh your memory on how to bust perps. Okay, follow me. To Arrest a criminal you must first grab the opponent by pressing the \bt.  This will cause the player to initiate a grapple.  Pressing \btrapidly will fill the Meter.   Once the Meter is full, it will automatically charge up the Bust Meter.  Press \bXwhen the Meter reaches the Bust Box to handcuff the criminal. Let's find someone for you to bust. In this city, it shouldn't take too long to spot a punk. See that perp over there? Let's go bust him. Come on! \bT Talk \bT Learn About Arresting Go ahead and cuff him. To start the Arrest Procedure, walk up to the perp and press \bt. Also if the situation gets rough, press \bsor \bx, to soften the criminal up a bit.  If you get a suspect on the ground press \bTto mount them. Now, press \btrapidly until the meter fills with blue.  Shit Jack! You killed a cuffed perp! That's gonna lower your badge rating for sure! That's it for me. Make sure you take those drugs to the drop box at the police station. See ya around. To drop evidence in the deposit box, select the item in your inventory by pressing left or right on the D-pad. Make sure your weapon is holstered. With the evidence selected, walk up to the deposit box. A message will appear saying "Press \btto Deposit Evidence". Holding down \btwill repeat the process until you have no more items left to deposit. Good Job.  That’s the way it is done.   \bT Learn Advanced Techniques Hey Jack. There are some new moves they've been training us on that I'm gonna show you. All we need is some punk to try them on. Hey, there's a practice dummy now! Help!  He's got my purse! Christ, I'm beat. Try out this move I learned in the Marines. Your Super Bust Meter is located just below your Health Bar in the lower left corner of the screen. Get within grapple range and when this Meter is full press \bsand \bxat the same time to perform a Super Bust.  This can be used at anytime against a standing or prone opponent.  This  Meter fills up by beating up suspects. Hey pigs! Quit hassling my brother! Nice! Now try mixing up your fight moves. Try some combos, you know, coupla punches followed by a kick, that sort of thing. Shit, that guy's got a gun! Go disarm him! Get within grappling range and press \bt to initiate the disarm.  To disarm the suspect, move the left thumbstick in any direction and press \bo to take the weapon and push the suspect in that direction. During a normal grapple you can also use this combination to throw your opponent in the direction you are pushing. Good job, rookie. Ah, I'm just bustin' your balls. Look don't worry. I'm sure the Captain will get you back on the detective squad soon. Right?  Take it easy. Jack, I know you think being my nephew gives you special privileges, but you oughta know by now it doesn't count for squat. Come by the station and retrieve your credentials. Go To Police Headquarters, located on your map in blue. Extra hint:  While Sprinting press \btto perform a Flying Tackle. Make sure your aim is good or else you may tackle an innocent bystander. Criminals or civilians may try to resist arrest by struggling. They will try to pull away and you must counter their movement with the left thumbstick.  Move the left thumbstick in the direction of the arrow to wrestle the opponent back into arrest position. You can also beat on the criminal to make them more susceptible to arrest. You can't work as a detective until you increase your badge rating. Them's the rules, hotshot. To learn about arresting, badge rating, and advanced police procedures, talk to the officer marked on your map in blue. Pay close attention to your badge rating.  During this training your badge rating won't be affected, but after you hit the streets your badge rating will drop if you harm civilians or cause unnecessary damage.   You can also arrest criminals and deposit contraband at the police station deposit box.  To raise your badge rating, complete your training with the officers. Shit, that guy has a gun! Let's move in and flash our badge to show that we're cops. To flash your Badge, press \bo.  This will get peoples' attention. The higher your Rep Rating the more respect you will get. Some Perps might even surrender without a fight.  Try it on the criminal now. Nice work Jack.  As you can see, sometimes identifying yourself helps out.  Also, make sure you never tarnish that badge, because cop or civie, I will bust your ass. Obviously, it's our job as cops to bust up crimes and turn any recovered contraband in as evidence.
