No one to watch us. No one to keep us. This conclusion fills us with dread.  For even a Keeper should not be left unchecked. So it became our work to plan for the worst possible contingencies. If at some distant time in the future, should the Keepers become unbalanced, then only our work now would stand in the way of disaster.  This is why we labored so long and hard to create the Last of All Glyphs. Yet our best thinkers were not satisfied.  What if, for some reason unknown, it came into play too soon? Before these future Keepers had a chance to complete an important task? So we devised the Sentients, each a separate key, each with a will of its own. The Heart, the Crown, the Paw, the Chalice, and the Eye. They would not consent to the journey, which would culminate in their annihilation, until the time was ripe and the One was present. To ensure success, five Keepers were recruited to make the crucial sacrifices. And so, the Last of All Glyphs, our safeguard, stands ready against Keeper corruption. I hope we have done service to the future. May the Unwritten Times never come.\n"

Personne pour nous surveiller. Personne pour nous garder. Cette seule idée nous terrifie. Même un Gardien ne saurait \nêtre laissé sans surveillance. Il nous faut donc parer aux pires éventualités. Si d'aventure à l'avenir, l'équilibre des Gardiens venait à être rompu, notre oeuvre serait le seul rempart face au désastre. Telle fut l'inspiration derrière notre pénible travail, qui mena à la création de l'Ultime Glyphe. Mais nos plus brillants esprits n'étaient pas satisfaits pour autant. Qu'adviendrait-il s'il était révélé trop tôt ? Avant que les Gardiens suivants n'aient eu le temps d'entreprendre une tâche cruciale ? On façonna donc les Sensitifs, les clés du projet, chacune dotée d'une âme. Le Coeur, la Couronne, la Patte, le Calice et l'Oeil. Elles retarderaient l'illumination, qui culminerait avec leur destruction, jusqu'au moment voulu, jusqu'à la venue de l'Elu. Pour leur création, cinq Gardiens consentirent à l'ultime sacrifice. Ainsi, l'Ultime Glyphe, ce rempart, protège l'ordre de la corruption. J'espère que nous avons fait le bon choix. Puissent les Temps non-écrits ne jamais arriver."

Niemanden, der uns bewacht. Niemanden, der uns behütet. Diese Erkenntnis erfüllt uns mit Furcht. Denn selbst ein Hüter sollte niemals unbeaufsichtigt sein. Also bereiteten wir uns auf den schlimmsten aller Fälle vor. Sollten die Hüter in ferner Zukunft das Gleichgewicht verlieren, dann wird allein unser Werk eine Katastrophe verhindern. Nur deshalb haben wir so lange und hart gearbeitet, um die Letzte aller Glyphen zu erschaffen. Und doch waren unsere größten Denker unzufrieden. Was, wenn sie aus unerfindlichen Gründen zu früh ins Spiel gebracht werden sollte, bevor die zukünftigen Hüter die Möglichkeit haben, eine wichtige Aufgabe zu erfüllen? Also schufen wir die empfindsamen Wesen, fünf Schlüssel mit einem eigenen Willen: Das Herz, die Krone, die Tatze, den Kelch und das Auge. Sie werden ihre Reise, die unweigerlich in ihrer Vernichtung gipfelt, erst antreten, wenn die Zeit reif und der Eine erschienen ist. Um ganz sicher zu gehen, wurden fünf Hüter für die entscheidenden Opfer ausgewählt. Und seither schützt uns die Letzte aller Glyphen vor der Verderbtheit der Hüter. Ich hoffe, wir haben der Zukunft einen Dienst erwiesen. Mögen die Ungeschriebenen Zeiten niemals kommen."
