But I’m convinced it would fool anyone – even an art dealer. This gives me an idea – The Taciturn Lady is going to be our meal ticket for the next few months. Si tu ne me l'avais pas fait remarquer, je n'aurais jamais su. Pense à tout ce que ça implique ! La plus célèbre peinture de Francis Orbetti, La Dame Taciturne, le portrait qui a le plus de valeur dans le musée... un faux! Mais je suis convaincu que ça tromperait tout le monde, même un amateur d'art. Ça me donne une idée : La Dame Taciturne va bien nous rapporter dans les prochains mois. Wenn Ihr mich nicht darauf hingewiesen hättet, wäre mir das nie aufgefallen. Das ist ja unerhört! Francis Orbettis bedeutendstes Gemälde, 'Die schweigsame Dame', das wertvollste Exponat des Museums ... eine Fälschung! Allerdings bin ich sicher, dass der Schwindel nicht einmal einem Kunsthändler auffallen würde. Das bringt mich auf eine Idee. Die schweigsame Dame könnte uns die nächsten Monate ernähren. Gebt mir eine Woche, um die Details auszuarbeiten und sprecht bis dahin mit niemandem über das Gemälde. Ach ja, und verbrennt diesen Brief, sobald Ihr ihn gelesen habt.\n<p>\nK"

Se non me l'avessi fatto notare non l'avrei mai saputo. Pensa solo alle implicazioni! Il quadro più importante di Francis Orbetti, La dama taciturna, il ritratto più prezioso del museo, è un falso! Ma sono convinto che ci cascherebbe chiunque, perfino un mercante d'arte. Questo mi fa venire un'idea: La dama taciturna sarà il nostro buono pasto per i prossimi mesi. Avrò bisogno più o meno di un'altra settimana per studiare i dettagli. Nel frattempo, non parlare a nessuno del quadro e brucia questa nota appena hai finito di leggerla!\n<p>\nK"
