\n\nFamiliarizing yourself with Garrett's history and capabilities could prove essential should the time come when we no longer deem him necessary.\n

\nGarrett studied with us until his early twenties at which time he was offered the chance to proceed with the Indoctrination Ceremony and become a Keeper. However, he lacked balance and instead expressed his intention to leave. The council voted we deal with him using the Enforcers, until Caduca informed us that Garrett was essential to overcoming difficult times ahead. And so our most promising acolyte left us.
\n\nGarrett pursued the life of a criminal, and with the Keeper training we had given him, he quickly became a master thief. His abilities did not escape attention of certain individuals, and he was lured into a Pagan plot that threatened the safety of the City. During that time Garrett's eye was removed and used to power The Eye, one of the Artifacts we are studying (see Ogilvy's Treatise on Sentients for more regarding the Artifacts). After the threat was neutralized, Garrett obtained a mechanical eye from the Hammerites.
\n\nLater his thieving abilities revealed an excessive imbalance within the Hammerite order (see The Mechanist Metal Age for more on this topic). True to Caduca's predictions, Garrett had the abilities necessary to remove the threat and overcome our second trial.

Cependant, il manquait d'équilibre et a exprimé son intention de partir. Le conseil vota pour les Enforceurs "s'occupent" de lui, jusqu'à ce que Caduca nous informe que Garrett allait jouer un rôle essentiel dans les temps difficiles à venir. Ainsi partit notre acolyte le plus prometteur.
\n\nGarrett embrassa la vie de criminel et avec l'entraînement qu'on lui avait fourni, il devint rapidement un maître voleur. Ses capacités n'échappèrent pas à l'attention de certaines personnes et on l'attira dans un complot païen qui menaçait la sécurité de la ville. C'est à ce moment-là qu'on enleva un oeil à Garrett pour fournir de la puissance à L'Oeil, un des artéfacts que nous étudions (voir La traîtrise d'Ogilvy sur les Sensitifs pour de plus amples informations concernant les artéfacts). Une fois cette menace neutralisée, Garrett reçut un oeil mécanique des Marteleurs.
\n\nPlus tard, ses capacités de voleur ont révélé un déséquilibre au sein de l'ordre des Marteleurs (voir L'Age de Métal Mécaniste pour plus d'informations). Conformément aux prédictions de Caduca, Garrett avait les capacités nécessaires pour détruire la menace et surmonter notre deuxième épreuve.

\nGarrett lebte und lernte bis zu seinem zwanzigsten Lebensjahr in unserem Kloster. Doch anstatt an der Belehrungszeremonie teilzunehmen und fortan selbst ein Leben als Hüter zu führen, zog er es vor, uns zu verlassen. Der Rat hatte bereits beschlossen, ihn den Vollstreckern zu überantworten, als uns Caduca informierte, dass Garrett ein wichtiger Teil der Prophezeiungen sei. Also ließen wir zu, dass unser viel versprechendster Akolyth unserer Bruderschaft den Rücken kehrte.
\n\nGarrett führte fortan ein Leben als Krimineller und wurde dank der Ausbildung, die ihm die Hüter ermöglicht hatten, schon bald ein berüchtigter Meisterdieb. Seine Fähigkeiten blieben jedoch auch bestimmten Individuen nicht verborgen. Garrett verstrickte sich daraufhin in die Machenschaften der Heiden, die den Fortbestand der ganzen Stadt bedrohten. Damals wurde auch Garretts Auge entfernt, da es als Energiequelle für Das Auge, eines der Artefakte, die wir erforschen, benötigt wurde. Weitere Informationen über die Artefakte sind in Ogilvys Traktat über empfindsame Wesen nachzulesen. Als die Gefahr schließlich gebannt war, erhielt Garrett von den Hammeriten ein mechanisches Auge.
\n\nSpäter trugen seine Diebesfähigkeiten maßgeblich zur Aufdeckung eines bedrohlichen Ungleichgewichts innerhalb des Ordens der Hammeriten bei. Wie Caduca vorhergesehen hatte, verfügte Garrett also über die nötigen Fähigkeiten, auch unsere zweite schwere Prüfung zu bestehen.
